An Interview with a Cat About the Election of Barack Obama for President
by Sheena Harden
And now for something more uplifting, an interview with a young black kitteh with her thoughts on the outcome of the election.
WPR: I'm here with Tori Bean Harden, a black youth from one of America's disenfranchised minorities, cats. Thank you Tori for taking the time to speak with us.
Bean: Hi. Hi! (rubs the mic with her head)
WPR: So how do you feel about the outcome of the election?
Bean: I don't know. Will there be more food?
WPR: Obama's tax plan should make it easier for those Americans in a certain tax bracket to get by, so potentially, yes.
Bean: Okay. Then I'm for it! You said Oh-Bama is black, like me? I'm pretty! (pauses to lick herself)
WPR: His father was Kenyan and his mother was white.
Bean: That would make him more like Buckley. Buckley is goofy. He doesn't play with me nearly enough. Can we play now? Where is my toy?
WPR: Okay... So, if you were able to vote would you have voted for Obama?
Bean: I could change my mind at any moment.
WPR: Do you think that as President, Mr. Obama will work for Cat's rights?
Bean: Pft! Whatever. Even if he did we would just ignore him. Humans are already our servants. What more do we need? (pauses to stare into space) Well, more no-kill shelters for strays would be nice. But I'm not counting on it... Is that a bug? (bounds away)
WPR: Well, thank you Ms. Bean for your time.
